About a month ago the NBA world was buzzing about the Los Angeles Lakers potential new acquisition, point guard Chris Paul. Hollywood would never be the same, Kobe was going to have a new sidekick, celebrities would sit court side actually interested in the game, and the Lakers were willing to dump their entire roster for him. Dictator Stern ruled against the trade and the New Orleans Hornets were looking to wheel and deal with another team.
BOOM! The Los Angeles Clippers nabbed Chris Paul, offering up Chris Kaman, rising star Eric Gordon and a few others. Headline trade right? Well, look who else the Clippers signed while everyone had their eyes on Chris Paul and Dwight Howard! Veterans Chauncey Billups and Caron Butler were added to the Clippers!
It sounds like the Clippers just beefed up one of the historically worst NBA teams, making them a serious contender for this season and more importantly the future! They are building around young Mr. Highlight Himself, Blake Griffin. And who throws the best lobs in the NBA Chris Paul.
Did you happen to catch the preseason game between the Lakers and Clippers last night? The Lakers look like they’re on their way out and the Clippers are the new attraction in town. Very bold statement, we understand. The Lakers management will pull some tricks out of their sleeve, believe us! But, for the time being the Clippers are the major attraction in Hollywood!
I know the NBA is afraid of stacked teams such as the Miami Heat, but it makes the games more fun to watch. Plus, the NBA is still making money! The Los Angeles Clippers have immediately sold out their games for the year! Money. The Miami Heat, (pre-Big Three) had the worst attendance, now they sell out every night. Money. The New York Knickerbockers’ are rebuilding the once thriving Madison Square Garden, making New York basketball attractive again. Money!
Many will complain about “the little guy.” “But, Adam, what about the smaller market teams without these stars?” Well, my friends they’ve won before. The Clippers used to be that team, and now look.
All I’m saying is the NBA had hit their all time low with the lockout! Hopefully, with all these major All-Stars finding new homes the word is spreading and anticipation is largely building! Let’s get ready for a great NBA season, even if it is short….the NBA is back!
